Holding your breath is holding energy

You need to breathe when you play. Sounds obvious, right? However, the "fight, flight, freeze" reaction of the sympathetic nervous system sends us a counter-productive idea that you can focus better if you don't breathe. Turns out, it's just the opposite. Holding the breath stagnates emotion. Breathing allows energy and feeling to move. So, for your music's sake, breathe!
