There are those who feel they are cheating if their left hand fingers are not exactly on the tips. It isn't cheating; it may be actually causing tension in your hand - orchestrating your own "Swan Lake." Hang your hand to your side and notice the natural curve of your fingers. Use that as your guide for placement on the fingerboard. Notice the freedom in your vibrato, shifting, facility?
